Economic Sanction is usually an action taken by one nation or group of nations in order to harm the economy of another nation or group, often to force a political change.

The United Nations General Assembly in 1962 had passed the Resolution 1761, which is a non binding resolution. It established the United Nations Special Committee against Apartheid and called for Economic Sanctions on South Africa.
