Bantustans also called black homelands or Bantu Homelands in South Africa from the 1950s until 1994. It was designed for majority of the Black population as part of the system of Apartheid. They had limited self-government. The terms Bantustan or Bantu originated from the fact that the different languages of these groups were all considered Bantu languages.
