Azem Vllasi was a senior Kosovo Albanian politician and a lawyer. He was a member of the central committee of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia. He later became the leader of the League of Communists of Kosovo in 1986. In November 1988, Azem Vllasi and Kawuasha Jashari, the two top ranked Kosovo politicians were trampled in the anti-Bureaucratic revoltion because they both were unwilling to accept the constitutional amendments that were curbing Kosovo;s autonomy. Azem Vllasi had survived the wards and today he still works as a lawyer, author, and political adviser/consultant. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo.
